Accounts

Do dormant accounts expire?

In principle, yes, but this has not yet been implemented and no specific policy has been set.

You can be assured that ample warning would be given by e-mail prior to any expiry, and that there would be an opportunity to reactive an expired account before it was permanently deleted.

Do you allow usernames to be reused?

In principle, yes, but as with expiry this has not yet been implemented and no specific policy has been set.

Before this is allowed to happen measures will be put in place to reduce the risk of more than just the username being reused.

(At the time of writing, reuse was an active topic of discussion within the OpenID community. It is very likely that this service will follow whatever consensus is reached.)

What happens if I lose my password?

Provided that you still control the e-mail address associated with the account then you can ask for the password to be reset. (This is currently a manual process, but it may be automated in the future.)

If you have lost control of the associated e-mail address then the password will only be reset if you can provide compelling evidence to establish that you are the owner of the account. Each case will be considered on its merits, but this may take time (and may not be possible at all).

Do you allow users to register multiple accounts?

There is nothing to prevent you from doing this, but it is discouraged unless you have a good reason for needing them.

(An example of a good reason would be where there is a requirement for accounts to have different privileges attached to them.)

If you want more than two accounts then please ask before creating them. It is unlikely you will be refused if your request is a reasonable one (whereas if you do not ask and are found out then there is a fairly high chance that the accounts will be summarily deleted).

Is non-RISC OS related use forbidden?

No. There is no objection to moderate usage for other purposes if it makes your life easier; just be aware that is not the primary reason why the service is provided.

(However, as noted above, we would recommend against such use while the service is an experimental one.)
